In order to compete favourably in the forth coming London 2012 Olympics” the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has enjoined the National Sports Commission (NSC) to ensure that the country’s athletes intensified preparation to enable them win laurels for the nation.

This was part of the communiqué issued at the end of NEC meeting of the SWAN held at the NUJ press centre, Lokoja, Kogi State on Tuesday.

SWAN also lauded the chairman, National Sports Commission, Sports Minister Mr. Bolaji Abullahi and the Secretary to the Government of Federal (SGF) Senator Anyim Pius Anyim for resolving the crisis that had for long engulfed the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF).

The association urged the country’s football ruling body NFF to listen to voice of reason on the purported appointment of the Belgian saintfet as the NFF Technical Director.

The body frowned at the rising incidence of violence at football league venues and appealed the Nigerian premier league authority to rise to the occasion by using full weight of the law on erring clubs and officials.
