A land prospector in the Rumuosi area of Akpor Kingdom of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, has adopted both traditional and other means to stop other property owners from further development on a vast land in the area until his interest is being sorted out adequately.

The Tide has gathered reliably that the said prospector (name withheld) who was very angry over his inability to have access to the land he claimed to have purchased from a member of the family that owned the land, resorted to taking the matter to the Rumuosi Council of Elders to stop any form of development on the family land.

It was also gathered that the said land prospector allegedly resorted to other diabolical means to further strengthen his efforts in ensuring that no development takes place on the marked area.

Narrating the unfolding events on the said family land to The Tide, the new head of the sub-Rumuekunda family, Patrick Dike said that one of his family brothers who is late now, sold a plot of land from the family land to the prospector without the notice of family members, and not even the wife of the late brother knew about it.

According to him, “My own portion of land which my father left for me was also sold by that my late brother without my notice, and I also sold that my own portions to my clients with agreement written”.

He said that in the process of developing the land, the said prospector surprisingly appeared to lay claim to the land, which has brought confusion into the system.

Mr. Patrick posited that he will not disobey the order of council of chiefs, even though it will cause delay to development, until the matter is properly settled. He urged all those that purchased land in the said areas, to be patient.
