HOS Cup:Special Duties Overcome Education 5-2

As action continues in the 2012 Rivers State public service football competition known as the Head of Service, (HOS) cup, which kicked off on Monday, the defending champions, Ministry of Special Duties has booked its place on the next round of the competition.

The defending champions yesterday defeated their Ministry of Education opponents 5-2 aggregate after regulation time and penalty shoot out.

The game was tied on 1-1 after regulation time and had to be decided with spot kicks.

At the end of the day, Ministry of Special Duties proved more prolific, scoring four of their kicks to education’s one.

Also yesterday, Ministry of Social Welfare advanced to the next stage with a 3-0 walk-over victory over Ministry of Youths, which did not show up for their encounter.

Today, the Ministries of Water Resources and Finance, whose match on Wednesday was rescheduled will take to the pitch to battle for the ticket to the second round of the competition.

It is expected that the match will be keenly contested and fans thrilled by the football artistry that would be on show.

It would be recalled that in the opening match of the 2012 edition, Ministry of Health defeated Ministry of Works 4-2 on penalties after playing 1-1 within regulation time.

The competition continues on Monday  at the same venue, Sharks FC Stadium, Port Harcourt.
