Gullit Linked To Pirates Coaching Job
Former Dutch international, Ruud Gullit has been linked to the coaching job at Orlando Pirates in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
The Pirates are still looking for a new coach to replace Julio Leal, who was fired by the club at the beginning of April.
Former Germany captain Lothar Matthaus has also been linked with the big position at Parktown.
Gullit recently featured in an advertisement for Carling Black Label, who are club sponsors, and according to sources in the Pirates camp, Gullit’s CV is on top of the pile on Irvin Khoza’s desk at their offices.
“Ruud Gullit has been in the country several times and is fond of South Africa. He is very interested in the job at Pirates,” the source said.
But communication manager Mickey Modisane says now is not the time to discuss the issue.
“Our focus now is on the two remaining games and we will only discuss the issue of the coach at the end of the season,” Modisane said.
Pirates are on the verge of winning the PSL title again, should they win their final two matches this season.
