Governor Martin Elechi of Ebonyi State has inaugurated two Outside Broadcasting (OB)vans procured for the state Broadcasting Corporation (EBBC).

Elechi, who performed the inauguration at the corporation’s complex in Abakaliki, stated that the procurement of the vans would help to realise the state government’s objective of adequately disseminating information to the people.

The cost of the vans has been incorporated in the total cost of inaugurating the digital television/radio broadcast station, valued at over N2 billion.

“We are happy with the people’s responses to the quality of information disseminated by the station, which reflects their needs, hopes and aspirations.”

The governor said the proposed training of its staff in Germany on the use of the sophisticated equipment at the station was still on course despite initial hitches.

“Visas for their travel had been procured, as the inability to travel was caused by communication breakdown.

“The importance of adequate training for them on the use of the equipment is important to the government as it is contained in the contractual terms for the station’s inauguration”.

Elechi charged the management and staff of the agency on proper handling and maintenance of the equipment, noting that it would ensure the durability and adequate usage.

“We of the analogue generation would never forgive you whom we have nurtured into the digital world, if these equipment fail to serve the purposes they are meant for.”
