Gokana Utd FC’s Performance Excites Management

The management of Gokana United FC has expressed satisfaction over the performance of the team in the on-going 2012 Rivers State Federation Cup and Super League Football Competition.

Speaking recently in Port Harcourt, chairman of Gokana Local Government Council, Hon. Demua Ledee Demua explained why the council founded the club.

According to him, the need to create a platform to project the image of the people and empower the high number of unemployed youths in the area necessitated the formation of the club.

On the performance of Gokana United FC so far, the one time team manager of the Bua Yeghe Football Association (BUYEFA) said he was satisfied with the performance of the team which had won three, drew one and lost one competitive matches, so far.

In the Rivers State Federation Cup Competitions Gokana United FC defeated CLA FC 2-0 and lost 2-0 to Nigeria Premier League side, Dolphins FC at the main bowl of the Liberation Stadium.

The club is now focusing attention on the state Super League Competition, where it has won three matches, so far.

Hon. Demua further disclosed that the recent months camping programme at the TAP facility in Oyigbo Local Government Area is intended to impact on the players and officials technically, especially in the areas of blending and discipline.

The chairman also reiterated the readiness of his administration to create the necessary platform for women and youths empowerment, saying that, it is crucial at a moment when the level of unemployment has risen to a challenging proportion.
