FRSC Seeks Govt Partnership For Effective Operations

The new sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Rivers State Command, Mr. Kayode Olagunju, has appealed to the government for more vehicles and ambulances to enable the command carry out its operations effectively.

Mr. Olagunju, who made the appeal during an interactive session with journalists in his office in Port Harcourt on resumption of duty last Monday, said with the provision of some operational vehicles, the command would reach out to accident victims or areas of traffic congestions on time.

According to him, he was ready to bring to bear his wealth of experience as sector commander in some commands, adding that he would also introduce a night rescue team to be on standby to assist in case of any emergency.

According to him, his target had been to improve traffic situations in the state, and further appealed to the government on the need for a good road network in the state.

The sector commander who attributed most accidents and traffic gridlock to bad roads also called on corporate organisations and individuals to assist the command in its quest for effective performance.

He said there was also need for public enlightenment for motorists on traffic rules and regulations, and called for all hands to be on deck to achieve set objectives.

He hinted that such programmes had been mapped out but needed public support and promised to enforce traffic law in the state to the latter, as the command would synergise with other road traffic management agencies and the police to ensure free-flow of  traffic in the state.

Mr. Olagunju, who gave the emergency numbers of the corp as 122 and 08077690601 in case of any crash or traffic jam, enjoined the public to always call for immediate rescue, and further assured that the command would leave no stone unturned in ensuring free flow of traffic, immediate rescue of accident victims and reduction of crash on the road.
