Dolphins, Sharks Target Fed Cup Glory
Both Rivers State flagbearers in the 2012 Federation Cup competition in Nigeria, Dolphins and Sharks FCs are hoping to write the name of the state in gold once again in the competition.
After emerging state finalists with Dolphins successfully defending the state title via a 4-1 penalty shoot-out victory over Sharks on Sunday, after a goalless regulation time result, the clubs target a successful run to the ultimate match of the national competition.
Speaking moments after overcoming Sharks at the weekend, Dolphins coach, Stanley Eguma said that their aim was to go all the way to the final match and win it again for the state.
He said that his team as well as Sharks possess the quality and motivation to be Federation Cup champions this year.
Eguma said that they know the terrain very well having won the competition a couple of times in the past.
This season, the Rivers clubs, according to him, have very good opportunity to be successful, and perhaps, play each other in the final match of the most glamorous cup competition.
He described the state final match with Sharks on Sunday as very close and competitive. “The two teams played a very good game, that Dolphins won does not mean that Sharks were bad, they also played well. Sharks is a good team and together, we can do our state proud in the Federation Cup this year”, he said.
