C’River Assures Super Eagles Of Safety

The Cross River State Government has assured the national football team, Super Eagles, who are expected to arrive the state on May 27, preparatory to their qualifying matches on June 3 and June 10, 2012 of adequate security throughout their stay in the nation’s paradise.

Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Mr Patrick Ugbe, who gave the assurance during an interview with newsmen in Obudu Ranch  Resort, contended that as the nation’s preferred destination, members of the team should expect nothing but the best of protection given the fact that Cross River State was recently adjudged as the state with lowest crime rate by the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr Muhammed Abubakar.

In his word, “all I can tell anyone coming to Calabar is that they are safe. We have a track record after hosting the FIFA Under 17  Championship in 2009 of security, safety, couple with a passionate fan culture and good pitch which remains one of the few natural pitches in the country”.

Ugbe, who averred that security measure has been put in place to avert any threat as the state will not take anything for granted, promised to shower the traditional hospitality of the people to the Eagles, adding that they will have a wonderful time throughout their stay in Calabar.
