The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has
condemned inciting statements credited to the presidential candidate of
Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari for predicting
bloody revolution in 2015.

In a statement made available to The Tide,
the National Publicity Secretary of PDP Chief Olisah Metuh said, Gen Buhari,
has thrown away patriotism for his fatherland by inciting people to take the
law into their hands.

Chief Metuh, recalled that in the 2011
general election, Gen Buhari voiced statements that made Nigerians to slaughter
fellow Nigerians and today he is quoted as predicting a bloody revolution in
2015.

According to the PDP publicity secretary,
“we cherish freedom of speech, assembly and association as the custodian of
Nigeria’s democracy, we at the same time know that such freedom goes with
immense responsibilities. We condemn this shameful call for the spill of blood
of innocent Nigerians to acquire political power”.

He explained that the party realises the
frustrations and antagonism of Gen Buhari towards the PDP, having lost three
times at the polls, but wondered if the blood of innocent Nigerians is the only
thing that would be sufficient to quench his thirst for power.

Chief Metuh noted that rather than
revolution, the country needs “evolution” in the true spirit of democracy
having experienced military dictatorship for the greater part of its existence,
stressing that the utterances of the CPC presidential candidate is
undemocratic, unpatriotic and un-statesmanly.

The publicity secretary noted that 22-man
panel of enquiry led by Sheikh Ahmed Lemu confirmed that Buhari’s provocative
remarks played significant role in the bloody violence that led to the death
of  at least 200 persons, injuring
thousands and displacement of over 40,000 people.

It is on record that Nigeria is yet to
recover from the huge losses it suffered due to such reckless and provocative
remarks by Buhari before the 2011, general elections which led to a spate of
bloody post-election violence across six states of the federation”, he
declared.

He urged Nigerians to be concerned over
Buhari quest for power by all means, adding that at this time of grave security
challenge when Nigerians are counting their losses Gen Buhari who wants to rule
at all cost is further inflaming the orgy of violence.
