‘UAE Club Not Interested In Del Piero’

Fabio Cannavaro’s former club, Al Ahli has distanced themselves from a move for out-of-contract Juventus striker, Alessandro Del Piero.

The 37-year-old Italian finished his decorated career with the Turin club in the weekend’s Coppa Italia final after not being offered a new deal for next term.

Del Piero has been linked with a host of destinations including the USA and the Middle East, having previously made a trip to Dubai, and he has hinted he could follow in Cannavaro’s footsteps.

However, Al Ahli president Mohammed Al Naboodah said it was unlikely the UAE outfit would be able to lure him to the club.

“I don’t think so,” he told reporters.

The former Italy international had told  our source  recently he was very interested in UAE football.

“I have been determined to follow the local football,” Del Piero said.

“I have friends who live here like Cannavaro and get information from him, I know more about UAE football than you expect.”
