Rivers LG Commission Pays 100 UNN Students’ Allowances

The Rivers State Local Government Service Commission, has settled all outstanding allowances to over one hundred staff of the commission currently studying at the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN).

A commissioner in the commission, Chief Jonah Tamuno, who said this, while addressing the students at Nsukka also restated the commitment of the commission to ensure the training and retraining of staff.

Chief Tamuno, however, urged them to set themselves as ambassadors of not only the commission, but the state and enjoined them to shun cultism, examination malpractices and other forms of social vices.

Also speaking, Chief Cyprian Chukwu who is also a commissioner stressed the need for them to take their studies seriously as the commission would not tolerate any form of indiscipline on their part.

The Head of Department of Public Administration, University of Nigeria Nsukka, Prof. Fab Onah thanked the commission for its commitment to the improvement of students welfare.

Prof. Onah, said that Rivers State is under-utilising its quota especially, in the graduate and post graduate sections and urged for the positions to be filled.
