The Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa at the weekend witnessed high passenger traffic as a result of the Easter celebration.

The busiest route was Lagos-Port Harcourt, followed by Abuja-Port Harcourt route as many flights were seen shuttling between these major cities to bring home their teeming customers.

Staff of Arik Air, Air Nation and Aero Contractors who spoke to The Tide on the condition of anonymity expressed satisfaction with the level of patronage that was recorded by the various airlines during the festive period.

‘You know, people are travelling home for the Easter celebration, that is why you are seeing so many passengers at the airport.

‘The number of people that boarded our flight was very impressive, especially those of them that came from Lagos”, said a staff of Areo Contractor.

‘The Abuja-Port Harcourt route is doing well, although it is not as busy as Lagos-Port Harcourt route.

We deeply appreciate the patronage we ‘ve received from passengers during this period,” said a staff of Airk Air.

Speaking on the significance of Easter, Happiness Orlu of Royal House of Grace International Church, Port Harcourt said Christ gave his life as a ransom for the sins of mankind.

“To understand and grasp the meaning of what Christ did for mankind, we need to think back to what happened in the Garden of Eden. Only if we understand what Adam lost when he sinned can we appreciate  why the ransom is such a valuable gift for us”, she said.

According to her, “the resurrection of Jesus Christ actually opens to us the opportunity for eternal life in line with God’s original purpose”.

Also speaking, Mr Joshua Amadi of Church of Pentecost Anglican Communion, Rumualogu urged Nigerians to learn from Christ by imbibing the culture of love and tolerance so as to move the nation forward.

In his contribution, Abel Chinda of Livecoal International Church, Port Harcourt said Easter is all about sacrifice and restoration because Christ gave Himself to us”.

He, therefore, urged Nigerians to be prepared to make sacrifices for the good of the nation, adding that Christians should continue to pray for the unity, peace and progress of Nigeria.
