Ogoni United Pips PH Manchester City

The Ogoni United Football Club, has beaten their Manchester City of Port Harcourt counterparts by a one goal in the on-going Mega Soccer Championship at Number Six Field Mini Stadium.

The match which was tagged “Star Match” in the championship saw both teams entertain the crowd with a lot o football artistry and strong will to proceed into the second round of the competition.  Six minutes into the match, Ogoni United recorded their first attempt on goal which hit the woodwork.

Two minutes later, Ogoni United converted a free kick from outside the 18 yards to record the first goal of the match.

Several attempts were made by Man City to level the score but the defence of their opponents gave no chance for mistakes as they maintained the one goal lead till end of first half.

The second half started with the Manchester City maintaining more possession of the ball as Ogoni United defend their lone goal.

At the end of 90 minutes,  Man City FC of Port Harcourt, could not cancel the deficits and fell to the lone goal.

In an interview with Tidesports shortly after the match, the scorer of the goal, Mr Solomon Samuel said he was very happy scoring the only goal that gave them ticket to the next round  and also dedicated the goal to his new born baby.

“I am very happy scoring the only winning goal for my team and I will not hesitate to dedicated this winning goal to my new born baby”, Solomon said.

Also, coach of Ogoni United, Elder Didi Edward who expressed absolute confidence over his chances of winning the trophy based on their attitude towards the championship.

Other teams that qualified for the second round were J-3 Boys, Nikke Boys FC and Manchester United FC all of Port Harcourt Township.
