NPL: Emordi Seeks To End Rangers’ Barren Run
The Head Coach of Rangers International FC, of Enugu, Okey Emordi, has attributed the club’s sterling performance in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) this season to its focus and discipline.
Emordi spoke with newsmen at the weekend in Lagos.
He said that the club was bent on ending its barren spell, dating back to the 1980s, adding that it would do everything humanly possible to win “something” for its teeming fans.
“Our current crop of players have worked so hard, and are also taking things in their stride, playing like a team should; and their level of determination is commendable.
“Rangers has not won anything for a while and so our boys are hungry for success, which we will achieve with God on our side; that is our main aspiration,’’ he said.
Emordi, who won the CAF Champions in 2004 as coach of Enyimba FC, of Aba, said that everything would be done to make the club a force to be reckoned with in local and continental football.
“We intend to go beyond the level we presently find ourselves and it takes hard work to attain the height we are aiming for.
“It is only through a high level of determination and zero tolerance on indiscipline that Rangers could achieve this objective,’’ he said.
Rangers played out a 1-1 draw with Wikki Tourist FC, of Bauchi, in a mid-week encounter in Bauchi.
The club before the weekend matches occupied the second position on the NPL’s standings with 34 points from 21 matches.
