The recent petroleum roducts scarcity in Nigeria has been attributed to the Nigeria National Petroleum Company’s (NNPC) inability to provide sufficient quantity for local consumption coupled with the Federal Government’s refusal to bring back the nation’s refineries to produce at full capacity.

Making the assertion while speaking at a reception ceremony shortly after the solemnisation of holy matrimony between Mr and Mrs Augusta Ericbona Eliom Ushie last weekend, a member of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Mr. James S. Agahana said NNPC does not import and supply enough capacity of Petroleum Products to the marketers.

Mr Ericbona Eliom Ushie is a member of the IPMAN.Mr Agahana described as untrue the insinuation by some members of the public that petroleum marketers board the products to cause artificial scarcity.

He said before now, the marketers were supplied three truck of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), one truck of Automohie Gas Oil (AGO), and one truck of DBK each in a mouth but no longer get such quantity even in a year now due to short supply by the NNPC.

“It is the quantity they give us that we sell to the public, IPMAN is not part of fuel scarcity. NNPC should give us the product as at when due and the government should revive the ration’s refineries to ensure adequate supply,” he stressed.

In his speech, chairman of the occasion, Barrister Ogah Ekunke-Ogah advised young couples to see Marriage as a serious business which must be anchored on faith and love.

He stressed the need for Eric and Augusta to work hard with their trust in God, Pointing out that the only way to succeed is to obey God’s instructions.

Mr Ericbona Ushie thanked God and all those who contributed to make the occasion succeed and enjoined his fellow youths to toe the path of marriage so as to receive the blessings of God.
