GPHCDA Awards N34.5bn Contract For Housing, Township Services
In accordance with the Rivers State Public Private Partnership (PPP) Infrastructure Law 2009, the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority (GPHCDA), has received the approval of the Rivers State Bureau of Public Private Partnership, the Ministry of Finance and the chambers of the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, to award a contract for the Internal Township Services and development of Housing Units, in Phase 1A of the New City.
The agreement, under PPP arrangement, was signed in Government House, Port Harcourt between the Rivers State Government, GPHCDA and DSC International Company Limited.
GPHCDA Administrator, Dame Aleruchi Cookey-Gam JP, signed for Greater Port Harcourt, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. George Feyii endorsed for the Rivers State Government while Bineet Sarang, signed for DSC International Company Limited.
The contract comprises; internal township services – roads, electricity, water, waste water, waste management, sewage and 1080 mixed use housing units, complexes of flats, shops and offices, which will be executed on a contractor financing basis.
The Internal Township Services estimated at N9.5billion, is to be completed in 24months, while the 1080 mixed use housing units is estimated at N25billion with 48months completion period, of which the first 500 units will be delivered in 30months.
