Four Arrested For Vandalising PHCN Installation
The Police in Sokoto State have arrested four persons, who allegedly specialise in vandalising Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) installations.
Alhaji Aliyu Musa, the new Commissioner of Police in the state told newsmen last Thursday in Sokoto that the suspects would be charged to court after investigations.
Musa pledged that the command would not relent in its efforts to make the state safe and secure, adding, “Sokoto is one of the most peaceful states in the country”.
He said that the police had also arrested three suspects involved in last Tuesday clash between farmers and Fulani herdsmen.
The Tide reports that the clash took place at Kwargaba Village in Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State and that it led to the death of one person.
Musa noted that peace had been restored in the area, adding that some policemen had been stationed in the area to prevent a re-occurrence of the crisis.
The Police Commissioner said the acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar and the commissioners in the various state commands had zero tolerance for corruption and extortion.
“The new IGP is committed to boosting the morale of the officers and men of the police force and would want to redeem the battered image of the force,” he said.
Musa solicited the support and cooperation of the public, including journalists in the task of safe-guarding the lives and property of Nigerians.
