Court Remands Two Over Attempted Murder
A Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate presided over by E. C. Woke has remanded two persons into prison custody for allegedly attempted to kill one Chimobi Anyanlo.
The accused persons Elliot Ogbonna 40, and Emmanuel Ogbonna 30 are standing trial on two count charges bordering on attempted murder and intent to unlawfully kill and other related offences.
The prosecuting police officer, Inspector Godwin Nwinam told the court that the accused persons and others now on the 27th of March, 2012 at No 7 Eyo Avenue off Aba Road Port Harcourt within the jurisdiction of the court did conspired among themselves to commit felony to wit attempted murder.
The prosecutor also said that the accused persons on the same place and time within the Magisterial District with intent unlawfully to kill one Chimobi Anyando by inflicting multiple machete cuts all over his body which caused harm to him.
He stated that the accused persons committed an offence punishable under section 324 and 320 (1) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. II, laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.
The presiding Chief Magistrate, E. C. Woke while remanding the accused persons in prison custody directed the clerk to send the original files to the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advise. The case was adjourned to 21/06/2012 for continuation.
