Coordinator of Imo Christian Pentecostal Mission (CPM), Pastor John Ezeh, has called on parents to reflect on the importance of family togetherness to evolve strong nation.

Ezeh gave the advice last Sunday at the church’s annual Family Week celebration at the Aba branch worship centre known as “City of Joy’’.

He said: “Our intention is to bring families together and keep reminding us that God did not begin by creating the Church; He began by creating the family; made man and woman and then they started having children.

“Then out of the family, the Church was given birth to, the essence is to keep reminding us that if the Church must be okay, the family and the nation must too. The family is the starting point for both the Church and the nation.’’

The cleric stressed the need for family to always be together, pointing out that every day and week must be important to the family in order to sanitise the society.

Ezeh said that many families were in crises which in turn was affecting the Church and urged families living peacefully to pray for those in crises.

“If I am not happy, my wife and children will definitely be affected; let the home be in peace so that the church will be in peace; and as the family is prospering, the Church will prosper.

“If the family is not doing well, the Church and the nation will not too; the home is the breeding ground for peace in the Church and in the nation.’’

He said that the CPM Aba branch had completed an orphanage building as part of its contribution to the society, particularly to the less privileged.

“For years, it had been my dream to build an orphanage. I have a special spot for the less privileged; it is just part of me. Today the orphanage building is ready; we are now trying to put the furniture and then take off.

“Success in life is the ability to touch peoples’ lives positively; if you have not done that, you don’t need to say you have succeeded in life.

“It is not how much money you have in the bank, but how many lives you have been able to touch to the glory of God.’’

He blamed the Church for the decay in the society and called for a change of attitude for development to thrive in Nigeria.

He noted that most ministers of God in the Church are compromising a lot, explaining why those in the leadership no longer fear or respect the Church.

“One thing I know is that it is the Church priests and ministers that should set up leaders, but today it is like the priests are pursuing the leaders and the leaders are taking advantage of it.’’

The cleric stated that the situation was affecting the society negatively as “these leaders go to church and if we pastors tell them the home truth, the better for the society.’’
