The General Manager of 3SC FC of Ibadan, Mutiu Adepoju has commended the management of Guinness Nigeria Plc for the N13.5 million shirt branding deal it entered into with the club.

Adepoju told newsmen in Lagos that the good fortune of the deal had begun to rub off on the team’s performance in the ongoing Nigeria Premier League (NPL) season.

The former 3SC attacking mid-fielder, attributed the team’s recent 3-1 victory over Enyimba FC of Aba to the “Dubic Lager Beer’’ branded jerseys the team wore for the first time after the consummation of the agreement.

“The shirt branding deal came at the right time for us, because we need the funds to purchase quality players to help stave off relegation currently staring at the club,’’ he said.

3SC currently occupies the 15th position on the NPL standings with 23 points from 19 matches played so far; and three points away from the relegation zone.

Adepoju, who was also a member of the silver winning Flying Eagles squad at the 1989 U-20 World Cup in Saudi Arabia, said the shirt deal denoted the viability of the NPL.

“The league may have its challenges but this shirt branding deal is a statement to the fact that the NPL is still a worthy brand and things will get better,” he said.

3SC,Enyimba and Warri Wolves FC are just three of the NPL clubs with shirt branding deals.

The two clubs are currently tied to the Dubic lager beer sponsorship for a combined fee of N27 million for both clubs, while Warri Wolves are tied to an Asaba-based construction company, ULO valued at N50 million

The Ibadan-based side would adorn the Dubic Lager beer branded jerseys for a period of 12 months with an option of renewal.
