‘Jonathan ’ll Eliminate Corruption In Oil Sector’
The Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Joy Emodi, has restated the determination of President Goodluck Jonathan to tackle corruption in the petroleum industry.
Emodi, who made the pledge at a news conference in Abuja on Wednesday, commended the House of Representatives for undertaking investigation into the fuel subsidy regime.
She said the President was prepared to partner with the National Assembly to eradicate the rot in the sector.
“The executive and the legislature are on the same page on the issue and would collaborate towards ensuring that any rot in the sector is fully addressed, Emodi stressed, adding that the president is poised to sanitise the oil sector and give it new breath of life through enhanced probity and transparent governance and zero corruption,’’.
She denied speculations in some quarters that the Federal Government would shield some of the individuals and agencies, who were indicted by the report of the House of Representatives probe panel.
“He is not going to spare anybody, who is found wanting. I bet you nobody is going to interfere.
“There are no moves being made to cover anybody because the President has zero tolerance for corruption,’’ Emordi said.
According to her, president’s choice of men of proven integrity to handle the various probes into the operations of the petroleum sector showed his determination to enthrone probity and accountability.
