‘Address Nnewi Security Challenges’
A member of House of Representatives, Rep. Chris Azubogu (APGA-Anambra), has called on the Acting Inspector -General Police to address the security challenges in Nnewi, Anambra state.
Azubogu who made the appeal at a news briefing said that the Nnewi business community had been deserted due to the activities of hoodlums in the area.
“The Nnewi business community has been deserted and our federal constituency is now a ghost town.
“I request your urgent intervention in the federal constituency by putting up more stringent measures in protecting the lives and property in the area.
“The need for your timely intervention cannot be overemphasised as the situation has obviously gone out of hand.”
Azubogu expressed concern that if the situation was not arrested, it could spill over to the neighbouring states.
“Once the situation is not checked, it may hamper the economic activities of the people.”
The legislator said that the security challenge was devoid of any political motive.
He disclosed that three mobile police men lost their lives in an early hour attack of April 5, at the Ukpor Divisional Police Station by some armed bandits.
