Tukur Tasks PDP leaders On Grassroots Linkage

The New National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, in Abuja, urged party leaders to form a link with the grass roots to engender good communication network for the progress of the party.

Tukur said this on Tuesday while taking over from Alhaji Abubakar Baraje, the acting national chairman of the party.

He said the integration of grass roots beginning from the ward level to the national would make the party to be stronger in the polity.

The new chairman urged the outgoing executives not to abandon the new party leaders so that the party would continue to be the strongest political movement in the land.

According to Tukur, the PDP original leaders have established a sound foundation for the party, the new leadership have no reason “to operate below the ladder”.

In his speech, Baraje appealed to the Tukur-led executive to work selflessly so as to take the party to greater heights.

He stressed the need for the new party leaders to maintain its (PDP) rising profile so as to make it the leading political party not only in Nigeria but on the African continent.

Baraje advised the new leadership to continue with efforts to build internal democracy which would further strengthen the party.

He commended the former leaders of the party for their support during his leadership to achieve greater heights for the party.
