The Abarikpo community in Ahoada-East Local Government Area of Rivers State last weekend was thrown into confusion following the  failure of the management of Total Energy and Production to turn up for the commissioning of two projects  embarked upon by the company in the community as scheduled.

The two projects are the renovated market project and a public convenience.

Sources informed The Tide that the people were disappointed when the company without any notice failed to turn up for the proposed commissioning ceremony.

The contractor of the projects, Mr Samuel Odoyi when contacted on phone, said that the company’s management was not comfortable with the presence of the media at the commissioning ceremony.

The paramount ruler of Abarikpo Community, Chief Philemon Ozor who spoke to newsmen later, blamed the incident on sabotage as Total E and P has always placed premium on capital human development.

The paramount ruler lamented that while the company was making efforts to carry its host communities along in the scheme if things, some persons within the area are busy thwarting the good intentions of the company.

In their separate speeches, the Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC) Sir Jojor Maxwell and the Women Leader Deaconess Florence Obuzor said that the two projects were poorly executed by the contractor.

They blamed the failure by the company and contractor to turn up for the commissioning ceremony on poor execution of the projects.
