The Community Secondary School, Ibofirem in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State and its Parents/Teachers Association (PTA) have resolved to promote sporting activities in the school.

The resolution was made when the school authority and Parents Teachers Association had a crucial meeting recently.

According to the principal of the school, Mr Wilson Saturday Eneyo, the school serves as an environment where both physical and mental development through sporting and academic activities can achieve full and efficient development of an individual.

“We cannot do away with sports as far as the school system is concerned because sports and academics develop the full potentials in students. For a student to develop solely on academic work without any extra-curriclar activities in the school environment, the overall achievement of the student cannot be complete.

“Since this is a community school, we deem it necessary to call for a Parent/Teachers Association to discuss how we can develop sporting activities, especially in the area of Inter-House Sports Competition,” Eneyo revealed.

He, however, regretted that the financial state of the school coupled with the forthcoming Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) made it difficult for the school to emark on such programme at the moment.

Finally, he said that the school authority and PTA resolved to shift the Inter-House Spors Competition to next year.
