RSG Moves To Introduce American Football In PH

The Rivers State Ministry of Sports, has received some coaches from United States of America, USA at the weekend in Port Harcourt in its bid to introduce and develop the American Football League in the state.

The State Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Fred Igwe, who received the coaches said they were to train coaches who would in turn train players on the tactics and techniques of American Football, adding that the state is poised to develop their sports.

According to him, the state was focused and determined to promote and develop different kinds of sports.

“This adminsitration is focused on developing other sporting activities, especially at the grassroots, because it is the sure way to take away the youths off the street.” Igwe said.

He stated that the introduction of NFL is necessary because some Nigerians had been bnefitting from the sport.

“The introduction of the NFL was necessitated because many Nigerians have been recruited in American clubs and such offers come with scholarship with its introduction in Nigeria, more youths would have ample opportunities in the sports,” he said.
