Responsive Journalism: PDP Women Leader Commends The Tide
The Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC), publishers of The Tide group of newspapers, has been commended for its community-based approach in the reportage of events across the country.
A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) women leader in Nasarawa State, Mrs Gladys Iye said this recently, in Port Harcourt during a thank you visit to the corporation.
Mrs Iye, an Ekpeye Woman from Rivers State, who works with the Nasarawa State office of the PDP, said she was in the corporation to thank the management for a publication in the January 24, 2004 edition of The Weekend Tide which reported her interaction with Queen Elizabeth of England during her visit to Nigeria.
She said she was delighted to see the story in the paper in spite of the fact that the event took place in far away Nasarawa State.
The PDP woman leader said that the publication has convinced her that The Tide Newspaper is a paper for Rivers people anywhere, anytime.
Mrs Iye said she was spotted by the Queen following the special bags she displayed during the occasion.
According to her, the bags, which have the inscription, “Mama Oyoyo” so attracted the Queen that she decided to find-out what it meant.
While thanking the Corporation again for the feat, she urged all Rivers people to continue to identify with the paper.
