Kano Pillars moved to the top of the Nigeria Premier League table after they defeated Shooting Stars 3-0 at the Sani Abacha Stadium evening.

Rabiu Ali’s brace and Nafiu Ibrahim’s goal ensured Pillars leaped above Rangers and Enyimba on the log. They have now amassed 26 points like Rangers and Enyimba, but lead on superior goals difference.

Media officer of the club Idris Malikawa said that the victory and subsequent movement on the table is a sign of things to come for the team.

“We are so happy with the result against Shooting Stars and this is a sign that Pillars is battle ready to win this season’s league trophy.

“The players have been committed and they have shown that they can be relied upon at all times,” Malikawa said.

Pillars next game is against Gombe United away from home, while Shooting Stars will travel to Kaduna against Kaduna United.

Ocean Boys defeated Sharks 2-0, while Jigawa Golden Stars beat Lobi Stars 1-0 in the other matches played last midweek.
