New FRSC Boss Assures Traffic Reduction In Rivers
The new Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Rivers State Command, Mrs Mary Wakawa, has said that her goal is to reduce traffic on the roads and ensure a better relationship between the command and the motoring public in the state.
Mrs Wakawa, who stated this during an interview with The Tide in her office said as road traffic congestion was pertinent in the society, there was need for partnership and tolerance of each other on the use of the road.
According to her, motorists should obey traffic rules and the rights of other road users, adding that she would soon come out with programmes aimed at creating a better understanding among the stakeholders after studying the terrain.
She appealed to motorists to assist the command so that they could also play their roles accordingly and give them better services, assuring them of a better working environment.
Mrs Wakawa, who served as Sector Commander in Taraba State before her posting to Rivers State Command said she intended to replicate her remarkable achievements in Taraba which were appreciated by the people, assuring that she would work hard for all to enjoy the dividends of Federal Road Safety Corps.
The Sector Commander however advised all motorists that as the rainy season set in, they should ensure that their vehicles were in good condition, reduce their speed limits for effective break where necessary, put on their seat belts, ensure their wipers, break lights and head lights were functioning, avoid reckless driving and be tolerant of each other on the road.
