NBTC Accredits School Of Health, PH
The Rivers State College of Health Science and Technology has been accredited by the National Board of Technical Education council.
The Head of Department, School of Medical Laboratory of the College of Health Science and Technology, Kingsly Opara who disclosed this last Thursday when the National Working Committee of Association of Medical Laboratory Technical and Assistants of Nigeria (AMELTAN) paid a courtesy call on him in his office.
Opara noted that the issuance of identity cards as liences to members of the AMELTAN, instead of certificate would be looked into as he said that the council was doing everything within its power to upgrade its certificate to an equivalent of the National Certificate of Education (NCE).
He assured that the upgrading of the certificate to NCE would ensure that graduance of the school of Health would gain direct entry into any of the tertiary institutions.
The school’s Head of Department disclosed that the school of Health Science and Technology has been upgraded from school to college as he commended the creative ideas from AMELTAN .
Earlier, the National President of the Association of Medical Laboratory Technical and Assistants of Nigeria, (AMELTAN) Comrade Samuel Isijana, said the association was formed to foster the spirit of oneness and to promote a working relationship between medical laboratory scientist and technician as well as the Assistants throughout the country.
Isijana note that the Association was face with some challenges which includes the Issuance of identity cards as licences to this members instead of certificate format.
Isigana appealed to the institute to ensure the conversion of Technicians certificate into diploma.
