Nath Boys Win Lagos Junior League

A hat trick by Aminu Abubakar helped Nath Boys of Lekki to overrun  Apapa Golden Stars 3-1 to emerge the maiden champion of the Lagos Junior Premier League.

The match, played at the legacy pitch, National Stadium. Lagos, drew a capacity crowd, including many sports personalities.

The epic final of the league was played under adequate security, perhaps due to the calibre of personalities present.

Determined Nath Boys dominated the match right from the blast of the whistle and were rewarded when Abubakar opened scoring in the 3ed minute during a goalmouth melee.

Goal thirsty Abubakar made it two for the Nath Boys with less than a minute to go in the first half, through a brilliant team combination.

On resumption, undaunted Apapa Golden Stars, reduced the tally through a perfectly executed free kick that hit the top corner of the net and caught Nath goalkeeper napping.

A Solo-effort by Abubakar sealed victory for Nath Boys in the 77th minute. Abubakar told newsmen after the match, that the victory was a dream come true to him and the entire team.

“We did not disappoint our fans and the spectators. I am very happy we won the title, I am also happy we made everybody proud,” he said.
