NASAM Education Centre Lists Sports Benefits
The proprietress of NASAM Education Centre, Mrs Akaja Sam Odum, has said that the institution organises sporting activities to keep the pupils fit and help discover their sporting talents.
Mrs Odum, who made the remarks last Saturday during the school’s Inter-house sports week at Sacred Heart Seminary, Aba Road, Port Harcourt also said that encouraging the youths to sharpen their talents be it in football or track and field events, would help reduce restiveness among them.
The proprietress said that the benefits of sports cannot be over-emphasised and cited the Kanu Nwankwos, J.J. Okochas as sports gems the pupils should emulate if they wished to excel. She urged the pupils to put in their best in every activity they engaged in.
Also speaking, chairman of the occasion, Prof. Lawrence Ohale of Port Harcourt, praised the proprietress of the school for including sports competition as part of the school’s activities.
He enjoined the pupils to develop interest in sports events just as they must take their class work seriously in order to be leaders of society in the future.
In the entire competition which featured various field and track events, Purple House came first thus picking up the cup from the White House which won the competition last year.
