Displaying the seized substandard drugs before journalists at the headquarters of the two local government areas of the state, the Director General of NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii who was represented by Mr. Momodu Seigiri Momodu disclosed that the seizure was made possible through the introduction of a hi-tech equipment by the agency to dictate fake drugs.
The NAFDAC boss who disclosed the name of the machine as Truscam said that it could be used to test drugs and the result gotten on the spot, adding that the exercise was part of the agency’s programme to rid the grassroots of fake drugs.
He regretted that some products which had been withdrawn from circulation had found their way back to the market, pointing out that the issue of tracking substandard drugs had now been taken to the door steps of the consumers.
