MHWUN Begins Warning Strike In Lagos
The Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) in Lagos State yesterday began a three-day warning strike over what the union described as non-payment of their salaries by the appropriate authorities.
In a statement, the Chairman, Joint Unions Committee in Lagos, Comrade Isiaka Busari, said members embarked on the warning strike following the insensitivity of the authorities to the need for prompt payment of their union members salaries.
He said, the members were hardworking and expected the respective supervisory agencies to live up to their commitment to the workers.
The strike is said to have already hit the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTA) very hard as nurses and other para-medical personnel have kept off duty in compliance with the strike order.
The unions involved in the strike include Federal Health Institution Workers, Nurses and Midwives, Senior Staff Association of University Teaching Hospital and Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) members.
