Man Remanded In Custody For Rape
A middle aged man, Godswill Brown has been remanded in prison custody by a Port Harcourt Chief magistrate court presided over by E. C. Woke for raping a girl of 10 years.
The accused person, Godswill Brown, 26, is standing trial on a one count charge bordering on rape and defilement.
The accused person was said to have on the 7th December, 2011 at No. 16 Nkpogu village Trans-Amadi in Port Harcourt City Local Government did defiled one little girl, Miss Ezinne Anyamele aged 10 years of the same compound.
The prosecuting police officer, Inspector Godwill Nwinam told the court that the accused person, Godswill Brown within the jurisdiction of the court committed an offence punishable under section 219 of the criminal code cap 37 laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.
The presiding Chief Magistrate, E. C. Woke while remanding the accused person to prison custody directed that the case file be sent to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advise. The case was adjourned to 31/5/2012 for continuation.
