Describing Etche as the food basket of Rivers State and as an area noted for its arable land, the federal law-maker remarked that the idea of providing 5000 job opportunities in the state and creating about 300 farm settlements in Etche are indications that the project would go a long way to improve the lots of Rivers people.

He further stated that the initiative would bring about improved yields, quick processing and better preservation of farm product which would take agriculture in the state to the next level and urged youths in the state to embrace agriculture.

Use of crude implement in agriculture, he said made agriculture unattractive to youths who shunned the sector for white colar jobs but expressed confidence that the new initiative would not only make agriculture practice attractive but also check food challenges which was fast becoming a global issue.

He disclosed that Governor Amaechi had been determined right from when the former commissioner was in the state executive council to establish a gigantic farm project in Etche, commending the governor for fulfilling yet another promise to the Etche people.
