The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Ogun chapter has attributed the scarcity of petrol in the state to short supply from importers.

The chapter Chairman, Mr Surajudeen Bada, told newsmen in Abeokuta recently that only NNPC was presently supplying fuel to the state.

According to him, some importers are yet to place order for the product.

“I am aware that only the NNPC is placing order for the product and other importers have started placing order for the product some few days ago.

“The order will not materialise until the next two weeks, so the pressure will still be on NNPC,” Bada said.

An anonymous station manager also corroborated Bada’s position, saying “I think we are in for a serious trouble because fuel is not even available there (Ore and Sagamu depots that supply the state).

He appealed to the government to intervene as a matter of urgency because few stations selling now will definitely exhaust their reserves soon.

A check in Abeokuta metropolis showed that long queues had reappeared in NNPC mega station and few other filling stations that had the product.

The check revealed that Fatgbems Filling Stations, opposite NNPC mega station at Kuto and Abiola Way, Word Oil Stations at Panseke and Sapon were all under lock and key.

Rantipe Filling Station on Abiola Way and Total Filling Station at Adatan were also not open for business.
