Gokana United Joins National League

The newly formed Gokana United Football club of Gokana, Rivers State which has joined the nation wide league formally called the Amateur Division Three League has commenced camping for the 2012 football season.

Addressing the 30 players and seven official at Kpor headquarters of Gokana ahead of the camping programme at the magnificent Tap centre, the Gokana Council Boss, Demua Ledee Demua stated that Gokana United was formed not only to engage and empower the youths, but also aimed at encouraging the abundant talented footballers in the area to achieve their aim of playing professional football to help project the area positively as well as discouraging the youths from engaging in negative tendencies.

The council boss charged the management team led by Ambassador Solomon Lah to ensure efficient management of the club by engaging qualified non-indigenes to beef up the strength of the team to ensure success. He then promised the provision of branded Jerseys and a bus and regular support of the team whenever the needs arises, assuring that all the signed on players have automatically becomes part time staff of the council.

In his response, while presenting training kits to the council boss, the chairman, Gokana United Ambassadors Solomon Lah, assured of promotion of the club and urged the players to ensure and take advantage of the Thirty days camping exercise to develop themselves in all ramification.

Dignitaries at the brief ceremony include the leader Gokana legislative assembly, Hon. Sylvester Vidim, secretary of council, Mr Promise Barida Bebu with his councilors, and supervisor for Sports, Emmanuel Didi.
