Former YSFON Official Mourns Coach Araba

Former Deputy National president of youth sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), Sir Jimmy Coker, has described the death of Mr Churchhill Spiff (aka Coach Araba) as a big loss to the sports industry in Rivers State.

Expressing his deep felt sympathy, during a chat with Tidesports, “in Port Harcourt, Cokers, said that was saddened by the demise of Coach Araba even though that death is a necessary end.

According to him, his only consolution is that Coach Araba left so much to be remembered for when it comes to grassroots football development in the state.

“Regrettably, the demise of Coach Araba brings to two the number of prominent grassroots football developers in the state, who have passed on to the great beyond within a period of two months this year,” he noted.

He maintained that Coach Araba was a committed sportsman whose passion for grassroots football in the state speaks volume, therefore, will be remembered by all and sundry.

It would be recalled that Coach Araba, an outstanding member of Port Harcourt District Amateur Football Association (DAFA) for many years was the captain of the defunct Port Harcourt Red Devils in the early 1970s, which later metamorphosed to Blue Angles and presently, Sharks FC of  Port Harcourt.

Meanwhile, late Coach Araba’s service of song has been fixed for today at his residence, No 32 Lagos Street, Port Harcourt.

His body will observe a brief stop over at the Sharks FC Stadium on Saturday, where a novelty match would be played in his honour between Sharks FC and Araba Babes FC before his interment at the Port Harcourt cemetery.
