FAAN To Demolish More Structures At MMIA
Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria may have been granted approval by the Federal Government to demolish more structures at both the domestic and international wings of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in the on-going re-modelling programme.
The federal government through the Ministry of Aviation is re-modelling 11 out of the 22 airports under the management of FAAN in the first phase of the programme.
Consequently, FAAN has given quit notice to private companies operating at the airport to facilitate the re-modelling programme.
The Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah-Ogiemwonyi was said to have insisted that the expansion project would be completed at the two terminals before the end of the second quarter of 2012.
The General Manager, Public Affairs, FAAN, Mr. Akin Otukunle confirmed this development, adding that the expansion programme would further bring convenience and comfort to passengers and other users of the facilities at the airport.
He also confirmed that the management of FAAN had issued quit notice to some companies operating at the airport, pointing out that the remodelling work at the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) which started last November would be completed in the next few months.
