Expert Advocates Fire Fighting Training For Health Workers

A retired Fire Service Director in Jigawa, Alhaji Idi Bukar has advocated the training of hospital workers across the country on fire prevention and fighting techniques.

Bukar spoke on Monday in Sokoto at the closing of a two-day training on fire fighting equipment for the staff of the Uthmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH), Sokoto.

Bukar, also the Managing Director of the consulting firm, Fire Chief and Consultancy Engineering and General Enterprises, said training was the best way to minimise rampant fire outbreaks in the country.

According to him, the training on fire prevention and modern fire fighting techniques will guarantee saving of lives and property.

“The reason why the Corporate Affairs Commission registers companies like ours is to complement the efforts of public fire service in fighting and preventing fire disasters nationwide,” he explained.

Bukar said that, the training of the participants, who cut across the various departments of the hospital, would last them for a life times.

“It is going to be useful both at work and their private life. It helps in saving a lot of lives and property in times of fire emergencies,” he added.

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Yakubu Ahmed,said the hospital organised the training to build the capacities of the workers in fire prevention and fighting

Ahmed was represented by Alhaji Abbati El-Hamzat, Deputy Director, Clinical Services of the hospital at the occasion.
