An ex-footballer who won the state Challenge Cup with Mighty Jets of Jos during his playing days, Mr Musa Mohammed, has commended the Governor of Rivers State, Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi for providing sports facilities in the state.

The  commendation was made during an interview with Tidesports at the six-field mini-stadium in Port Harcourt township recently.

He, however, charged the youths who wish to take sports as career to come out and appreciate the good gesture of the governor by making good use of the facilities. He also said that the provision of many sports facilities around the state would encourage idle minded youths to venture into sports, especially in the area of football.

According to him, keeping the youths busy in sports had brought relative peace to the Port Harcourt Township.

“We are very happy for the governor and that our youths are refraining from crime related activities, especially in Port Harcourt township, we now have a lot of peace unlike before.

“Now that we are having sporting competitions, the boys are learning to become one. Everybody is coming here to catch fun and that is the beauty of football because football brings a lot of people together”, Musa said.
