Enugu Releases N193m To Rangers

The Enugu State government has released about N193 million to the management of Rangers International Football Club, Enugu for the payment of outstanding and current emoluments of the players.

This was part of a concerted effort by the state government  to effect a complete revitalisation of the club which is currently occupying the first position in the Nigerian Premier League table.

The government has also in collaboration with the 17 Local Government Councils in the state instituted a monetary facility that would ensure easy and regular availability of funds to the club for its operations including the effective prosecution of its campaigns.

General Manager of the club, Ozo Paul Chibuzo, who confirmed this in a chat with Sports Writers in Enugu said that the money released would cover the payment of match bonuses and sign on fees dating from the 2010  /  2011 season to the players,  adding that the first two instalments  of the sum have been paid while warrant for the last instalment has been issued.

He added that the emolument of the players for the current season were being paid up to date, stressing that the management was also taking other important measures to ensure the comfort and happiness of the players.

Ozo Chibuzo expressed happiness that the encouraging gestures of the Sullivan Chime administration in the state towards the club, coupled with the commitment of the technical crew have contributed in no small measure to the sterling performances of the club which now “sits atop the Nigerian Premier League table”.

He further noted that this had also prompted an influx of top quality players from other clubs in the country,  adding that the club’s goal was to win all available trophies this year and perform creditably in the ensuing continental competitions.

The General Manager, however, pleaded for a further increase in the subvention given to the club, reasoning that this would help in no small way in covering the salaries of staff in full.
