Edo Assembly Ends Plenary For Third Quarter

The Edo House of Assembly has formally ended plenary sittings for the third quarter with an attendance of 44 day.

Announcing the closure on Tuesday, Speaker Uyigue Igbe revealed that during the third quarter, three bills were passed while two more at different stages of consideration.

The passed bills are the 2012 budget appropriation bill, the bill for an Act to make provision for the establishment of Edo State Public Procurement Agency and a bill for an Act to make provision for the establishment of Edo State Information and Communication Technology Agency.

According to the speaker, a bill to regulate the conduct of local government election and repeal the electoral law 2002, and a bill for the establishment of Edo State Independent Electoral commission are still pending.

Igbe disclosed that 14 resolutions were adopted in the third quarter while 24 reports were still at different stages before the various committees.

The speaker said the committees would continue their work, and wished the House and the people of Edo happy Easter celebration.
