Dolphins Overcome Sony Ela Nguema 6 – 0 Aggregate: CA F Champions League
Dolphins FC. Of Port Harcourt, has scaled through to the next stage of the orange CAF Champions league as they defeated Sony Ela Nguema of Equatorial Guinea 3 – 0 yesterday at the Port Harcourt Liberation Stadium.
The encounter was the second leg, first round which the hosts won with the same goal margin two weeks ago at Malabo. As it stands, Dolphins won with 6 – 0 goal aggregate.
Homeboy, Isiaka Olawale scored the curtain raiser in the second minute, while Ifeanyi Egwim and Owusu Addae scored the second and the third goals, respectively.
Generally, the match was dominated by Dolphins who demonstrated quality football. Also the visitors made several attempts to score, but to no avail.
Speaking with sports journalists shortly after the match, the technical advisor of Dolphins, Stanley Eguma, commendeded his players over the impressive performances.
“We went to Guinea to beat them 3 – 0, when we don’t have any information about them. We came back to Nigeria and prepared adequately with more information about them,” Eguma said.
According to him, the club is poised to defend the premier league fettle and lift the CAF champions league trophy.
“We are yet to blend well but, as the competition progresses, our game will improve to achieve our desire” he stated.
Eguma, used the forum to thank Port Harcourt football fans for support given to them.
Also speaking the captain of Sony Ela Nguema Alfonso Mitogo said that the 3 – 0 first leg loss demoralized them coming into the return leg.
According to him, football is anybody’s game.
“We tried our best, but we could not score Dolphins is a good team’ Mitogo said.
