Dolphins FC Targets League Points In Aba
It will be a clash of Nigeria Premier League heavyweights today in Aba as defending champions Dolphins FC seek to grab at least a point from Enyimba, the Peoples Elephants in front of their home fans
It is the rescheduled Week 3 league tie, which was put on hold due to the general strike that followed the removal of fuel subsidy in the country in January.
This tie is a must watch and one that promises all the trappings of an epic clash.
Over time, matches involving the two clubs, probably, the two most successful clubs in Nigeria in recent time, have proved to be better than the rest.
It is on this premise that football fans will throng the Enyimba Stadium, Aba to behold a potential football spectacle.
For Dolphins, it is a match they would have preferred to play on a different note, owing to their recent fixture congestion and forthcoming CAF Champions League preliminary first leg match with Cotton Sport Garoua of Cameroon on Sunday.
But their request to postpone the match was turned down by NPL.
According to Dolphins spokesman, China Acheru, the club had no choice but to play today’s game and hope it would not affect their preparations for the Sunday game.
However, the champions, who hope to retain their trophy at the end of the season do not intend to hold anything back in the encounter.
After suffering a 2-0 reverse against Lobi Stars at the weekend, they hope to leave Aba with at least a point today.
But Enyimba, a lone goal losers to Niger Tornadoes would not be in the mood to compromise the maximum points, especially, after dropping two points against Lobi at home last time out.
It is the determination to go full blast by the two teams that will set the tone and colour of the expected cracker, today.
