Dolphins Defeat Coton Sport CAF Champions League

Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt has increased their chances to move further in the CAF Champions League, as they defeated Cotton Sport of Cameroun 2-1, yesterday, at Port Harcourt Liberation Stadium.

The encounter was the 2nd round first league of the Champions League, Dolphins would in two weeks time travel to Comeroun for the return leg.

Home boy, Ifeanyi Agbim scored  curtain raiser two minutes into the game, while hard fighting Coton Sport got their equalizer at the 29th minute, through striker Haman.

In the second stanza, the visitors became more composed, tactical and expressed more confidence than  the host, but Dolphins contained them.

Owusu Abbey’s 86th minute goal gave the host the victory, as he chipped the ball into the net with his right foot through a well-tailored cross from Omdi Agun.

Generally, the game was dominated by the visitors and many goal opportunities were missed  by both sides, most significantly the penalty missed by Dolphins Ifeanyi Agbim at the 70th minute.

Speaking with sports journalists shortly after the game, the Technical  Adviser of Dolphins, Stanley Eguma expressed confidence that his team can win their opponents in their home.

According to him, they would put pressure on the Camerounians as they did here. “The match over there would be a different ball game”, Eguma said.
