Cult Groups’ Clash Claims Corp
A police corporal, Felix Nwokoyi, has been killed during a clash between two suspected rival cult groups at Community Secondary School, Oshiegbe, Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi.
Our correspondent reports that Daniel Obome, a constable, also received gunshot wounds during the clash.
John Eluu, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ebonyi, told newsmen in Abakaliki that during the clash by the unidentified groups, a team of police officers dispatched to the scene of the clash was ambushed and attacked.
According to him, the groups killed a corporal and shot a constable in the arm as the police were approaching the scene.
“The injured constable is currently receiving treatment in a hospital as 11 suspected members of the groups have been arrested by the police.
“Those arrested are being interrogated and the information they provide will help in apprehending the perpetrators of the dastardly act.”
According to him, the incident is a source of worry to the Ebonyi Police Command.
“An armoured personnel carrier and other patrol vehicles have been deployed to the area with enough personnel to restore normalcy.”
Eluu assured the residents of Ezza North Local Government Area of the safety of their lives and property as investigation into the crisis continues.
