Court Remands Man For Attempting To Kill A Police Officer
A Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate Court presided over by E. C. Woke has reminded a middle aged man, Mr Sylver Akpaku into prison custody for allegedly attempted to kill a serving inspector of police, inspector Adweme Adweme.
The accused person, Akpaku Sylver 37 was said to have on the 2nd of March, 2012 along profab close, GRA Phase III in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area did with intent to kill unlawfully push out inspector Adweme Adweme from a moving vehicle.
The accused person is standing trial on three court charge bordering on conspiracy, intent to kill and occasional harm.
The prosecuting police officer, inspector, Godwin Nwinam told the court that the accused person and others now at large on the 2nd of March, 2012 at GRA Phase III within the jurisdiction of the court did commit felony to with attempted murder as well as committed unlawfully intent to kill a ranking police inspector.
The prosecution further told the court that the accused person on the same date and place in the aforesaid magisterial district did stabbed one Chrisa Adweme with a broken bottle on the right hand which according to him caused harm to her.
He averred that the accused person committed an offence punishable under section 320 (1) (2) and 355 of the criminal code, cap 37 vol. II, laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.
The presiding Chief Magistrate, E.C. Woke while remanding the accused person into prison custody directed that the case file be forwarded to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advise on the matter. The case was later adjourned to 18-5-2012 for continuation.
